    Hi,
My y410p has developed a problem, it doesn't display anyting but white lines. It just happened one day, havent dropped it or anything.
I hooked it up to external display and it works perfectly ( I am using the same laptop to write it, with external display)
Although it's under warranty, I purchased it in Canada and am now living in Australia. I will have to pay shipping which I am guessing is over a AUD 150 each way. (I also don't have the 'box' laptop came in.

Can you guys help me out? If I diagnose the problem (I am guessing it's the screen or a specific component) I buy it from lenovo and change it my self (or get it changed locally?

As far as I know the Y410p/Y510p is covered under international warranty, (assuming your original warranty period hasn't run out yet), so you should still be eligible for a free repair locally.

Lenovo says, I have to ship to canada (as it's purchased from canada) and they will fix it
After fixing, they will send it to an address in Canada ONLY (I can ask em to send to relatives in canada, who can send it back t o me but.... shipping costs are to be borne by me (and they are likely to be high - I also threw away the box (of laptop) when I moved . :(

Then it looks like you need to argue your case with Lenovo - as I said, the Y410p/Y510p IS covered under international warranty.

Some general information on IWS (International Warranty Services):

    T&C's are here:

EDIT: Your other option is to replace the screen yourself - buy a compatible screen from eBay (be sure it is though), and follow either a guide of YouTube, or the instructions in the Lenovo Hardware Maintenance Manual for your device. Should be easy if you are technically minded.

I was thinking of getting a screen and fixing it. I would like the community's opinion, if they think it is the screen problem (or a ribbon or something). I know it kinda looks obvious, but still.

I'm willing to bet that it's that flat LCD cable that's loose.

I opened it up, the connector seemed fine. So is it time for new screen?
If i have to order it, should I go with lenovo replacement parts or is there a good generic supplier?
Also, I got the 1400x??? screen (currently) Can I put in the 1600x??? one instead?

Hi, the exact same screen issue arose with my y410p that I bought in Canada.
It happened 5 months ago while I was in France and I couldn't use it since then. Couldn't use the warranty either because international warranty doesn't work in France.
I'm moving back to Canada next week and my warranty is still working (it's 1 year, right?).
So they're probably going to replace the screen? Is the Lenovo warranty service good? Can I send it without bothering?

Did you get it fixed? if so, how ?

My y410p developed the same issue last week, I've just replaced the screen today but still no luck. Its still not working, this time, however, the screen is all black, instead of gray/white.

I haven't done anything yet, I have been quite busy :(
I saw a local shop here, they said they will charge $250 to fix it, I was thinking of getting a new screen and fixing it myself, but now that you have told me this, I am kinda leaning towards paying the computer wiz. Was your screen compatible? have you tried replacing the connector as one of the gurus here recommended?

    WOW!
If I remember correctly from the y410p threads, you and I got these devices around the same time in march '14. Well I won't worry about Lenovo's warranty service. Do let us know what they changed!

khaleel, I think i know why the new screen didnt work. My y410p resolution is 1600x900, I didnt check this when ordering the replacement screen, I'm still not sure, but I think the one i ordered is 1366x768. I'm thinking of ordering a second screen, witht he proper resolution this time. I havent changed the lcd cable.

The screens are $55 on ebay.

UPDATE: if anyone's interested, I've fixed my laptop. I ordered a second screen and it worked flawlessly. So the first screen i received was either the wrong resolution or just faulty.
