Hey guys, I just got my Lenovo Y50 today and everything works great, except for one thing. Every time I plug my headphones into the headphone jack, there is an audible, and decently loud, white noise coming through my headphones. I know it's not my headphones that are broken because they work on everything else. I can see it getting really annoying as well. If anyone has a possible solution to this problem it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Here's the same info I posted to you in the Y50 thread:

It's not just a headphone jack, it's an Audio Combo Jack (headphone and mic). If you plug in only a headphone plug, that plug shorts out the mic pickup, thereby creating the white noise. You should use a combo jack, and mute the mic in he software.

So if I plug in my smartphone's earplugs (which are supposed to have both mic and headphone), will that solve this problem?

It should. The smartphone jack, with the mic, has the 4 pins. Some headphone jacks, without the mic, will work, but not all. It's all in the configuration of the jack.

These Lenovo posts are not specifically for the Y50, but the info remains true for all of the combo jacks. Another thing to consider, if you're using a normal headphone jack (3 pin), try muting the mic in the audio software, to get rid of the feedback.

See this Lenovo post, and the answer from Solid_Cruver.

after muting the mic, do you still have to continually use the combo jack?
