This seems to fix most wireless problems.
    The registry key edit.
    https://communities.intel.com/thread/53294
Somehow in newer drivers it erased that value that told the wireless card to stop scanning when already connected. If you only had problems transmitting that should probably be it.

EDIT: In case the link is gone forever

I don't have these ping problems (only when I click on the Wireless Networks menu) but will adding this regedit make things work better? Not sure if that'll bork things up...

I have also been having this problem very recently. I originally thought that the problem was that I was at a different house that uses Xfinity Wi-Fi, but my computer seems to be the only computer in the house that is having this problem, my dad’s dell and my sisters Macbook all work fine besides the normal ups and down of Xfinity. It is very clear that my Y50 is having the problem. I tried reinstalling and updating my drivers and even changing the ScanWhenAssociated value with the registry editor. Nothing seems to help that much. To be specific my problems are very slow webpage loading and inconsistent ping to various sites. Ping ranging from 58, 56, 1812, 60, 57, 58, 908, 58, 60, 2998........ Hope someone has a solution. I will be going back home later this week where we have quest and will post an update if something changes. In the past I have never had problems with WiFi and my Y50 prior to being here with the Xfinity Wi-Fi.

    Thanks a bunch,
    -Smoss3

P.S. Sorry for the double post my connection got reset when I posted and I must have clicked refresh twice.

    In my case
my labtop wifi slow down from 10m to 4m
I found solution to solve by

1.uninstall wifi driver at device manager with (no checkbox delete the driver).
2.rescan hardware your wifi driver will appear again.

that magic my wifi speed test up to 10m like lan pc.

    credit.
