    Hello, people.

Today I got Lenovo Y50-70 Full-HD version ( http://www.amazon.co.uk/Lenovo-Y50-70-15-6-inch-Full-HD-Laptop/dp/B00LA01DFA) and I noticed one problem with the display. On highest resolution (1920x1080) desktop and websites looks smooth as it should, but some programs like uTorrent, Chrome and Skype are pixelated and blury as if they were not suited for 1920x1080. But this can't be true since I've seen these programs looking smooth on other laptops with the same resolution. Why is it so? How to fix this? Nvidia properties?

Here's the screenshot (uTorrent side is blury):

    Thanks for the answers.

Sounds like a DPI setting. Just a hunch but try: Right-click on Windows icon on lower-left corner>> Control Panel >> Display>> note what text size is ticked for 'Change the size of all items,' i.e. 100%, 125%, 150%, or 200%? Also is the little box ticked for 'Let Me Choose One Scaling Level..Displays?'

Yep, looks like DPI scaling to me. To be honest, on a 1080p 15" laptop, you don't necessarily need system DPI scaling at all (depending on your eyesight). On my t440s (14" 1080p), I don't use system DPI scaling, but I do zoom webpages and the like (ctrl +). Works much better in regards to blurry apps, and external monitors of different DPIs.

I had a similar scaling issue when I ran Windows Technical Preview on a FHD Dell Latitude. I have since sold my Latitude and do not have Technical Preview installed on any of my laptops or my sole desktop.

@OP. If the blurriness bothers you take note and adjust the settings in 'Display.' We all have personal preferences so you could simply tweak the settings until you find an appearance that you like. I also have a link to another forum that has a guide for DPI Scaling in W8.1 however I am not sure if it is okay to post it here. I can PM it to you if you would like to view it.

Ticking the "Let me choose one scaling level for all my displays" fixed the problem. But.. the icons in start-bar is still pixelated. I would like to view that DPI Scaling guide.

Thanks. Just changed everything to 100%. Small, but looks fine :)

Try going back to your default DPI settings. I assume the default is 125% Normal? You need to log out and log back in to see the changed or reverted settings every time you change the scaling settings. I've come across this issue before and it's quite an annoying one. If they don't work, go into the appropriate application's properties and change the graphics Compatibility Mode options. Either enable or disable it and test them out. Be sure to log out and log back in each time to make sure the settings are being set accordingly. This should fix your problem.
