    Hello Everyone.

I am thinking of buying a Lenovo Y500 laptop. I am from India.

I wanted to buy a Lenovo Y500 laptop with 750m Graphics Card and Full HD display but that model isn't available in India. So, there are only two choices available. One has the old 650m Graphics Card while the other has 750m Graphics Card. However, The 750m version laptop doesn't have Full HD while the 650m version has Full HD.

Can you guys help me decice which one should I buy? The 650m version laptop with Full HD display OR The 750m version laptop with HD display. The price for both is almost same.

    Thanks.

Wait for the Alienware m14x to hit the market. It will have a 1080p IPS screen and a 770m. It will be much better than the y500.

    1. The new Alienware 14 will have either a GT750m or GTX765m
    2. It will also cost $1500+
    3. It is extremely bulky and thick that comes in at around 1.7 inches thick

Issue is the price of Alienware in India very high. It will be a lot higher than my current budget. So, Leonvo Y500 is the best option in this budget. However I can't decide between 650m Full HD OR 750m HD.

GT750M does provide good performance but FHD is a must have if available and under budget, I am from India too and bought the Y500 gt750m FHD which is now on its way to India(relatives getting it for me)
Try some shipment forward company and order from there only.

Alienware is and way overpriced. If I want a real gaming machine decently priced, I would go for MSI first. If I am still not satisfied and I have too much money I would go alienware.

The Y500 is a overall great laptop.

If full hd = 1920x1080 take that one. If HD is 1368x768 and you dislike low resolutions dont go with this one.

You can still overclock the 650M to the 750M speeds with a BIOS mod found on tech inferno. So if you put it that way I think it would be easy for me.

If you dont mind using a lower resolution your gaming performance will be a lot better going with the 750M model because it doesnt have to work as hard.

But still graphics look nicer on a full HD screen... On a 1920x1080 15 inch screen there is no need for anti aliasing because pixels are nicely dense :)

No questions here, FULL HD is a most have , you will enjoy all the extra space on your screen. The 650 and 750 are almost the same... So there is clearly no hard desition in here. Have a nice day !

after having gone from a 768p screen to a full HD screen I can tell you that I would never buy a laptop with a 768p screen again...

best choice would be to try to get the gt750m + full hd one, but if its impossible for you then go with the full hd + gt650m one

Cheers for the feedback, guys. Thanks.

I will be buying the 650m version with Full HD then rather than the 750m version with Plain HD.
