Does anyone know if the infamous loose touchpad issues from the Y500 have been fixed on the new Y510P ideapads with Haswell/Dual 750M graphics?

The problem on the Y500 touchpads that I saw were that the lower half of the touchpad had way too much give with even the lightest tap. What ends up happening is that even when your tapping (not clicking down), your touchpad is making a rattling sound. This happens on the entire lower region.

    Nope, exact same clickpad design.

That's really unfortunate. I mean the Ideapad is a really good laptop otherwise, a very good bargain for what your getting.

They switched the wonky Synaptics pad for an ELAN one in recent models. So there's a little less pointer jumping and a bit more accuracy. However, the trackpad is still physically the same.

That's ironic, because the original Y400/Y500 had an Elan one which was unusable and Lenovo eventually switched out to a better Synaptics one on later units.

My "later" (June 13') unit has ELAN. You sure it isn't the other way around?

Also, i heard that if you update the drivers on the older models (with the wonky pointers) it fixes most issues. This is a rumor, however, but feel free to update drivers.

You have a a Y410p so it could be different, but the Y400/Y500 definitely started out with the Elan and moved to the Synaptics.
