    You know the old cliche of things going wrong just after warranty expiration. . . Well, a week after my 17" model ended I find a smudge/dead pixel cluster in the upper center of the screen. Wasn't there the last time I cleaned the screen relatively recently.

    It's just above my usual eye line so it's going to be a mild nuisance for day to day stuff.

    - Looks like it could be some trapped 'debris' in the panel. I doubt anything could get in or out, so likely something that was already in there. Why it would suddenly appear now is another question.

    While I've done intermediate level upgrades on machines before I've never changed an LCD. It doesn't look the worst to do, based on some Y530 videos. However, I'll have to decide whether it's worth the hassle/expense.
