I purchased a Lenovo Y450 three years ago to use for college. I sent it in 3 times for the same power issue over three years until my warranty was up and I was left with a dead laptop. A brick.

As a student, I needed another laptop very quickly, and the best deal I could find was a Y570 for $750. Dedicated graphics, good processor, webcam, done. I thought to myself my last laptop must have been defective, and they have realized this problem and have improved their quality on the new generation Y series.

    I WAS WRONG. SO WRONG.
One month into owning my new IdeaPad Y570, I was experiencing charging problems. It would not recognize it was plugged in, or it would say "Plugged in, not charging", but it would eventually go back to normal and start charging. The backlight acted as if it were confused, brightening and dimming randomly as if someone had been plugging and unplugging the charger or messing with power settings. A few days later it stopped charging all together.

With no other option, I sent it in to be fixed, and a week later I get it back. And guess what? Guess! It has the same problem less than 6 hours later. They said on the service form they had replaced my mainboard and it was checked over as working. Well, nothing was fixed. I feel my time and money had been lost, and, as a student, those days without my laptop were a huge inconvenience. My studies suffered to say the least. Now, I am here typing this review on a dying laptop.

I tried everything in the Lenovo forums, and everything Lenovo Customer Service had me do. Nothing worked. Just a bad laptop, for the second time in a row.

A Lenovo Customer Service rep has taken notes on everything I mentioned here and will hand it off for her managers to handle. I am hoping for a new laptop that works, and an extended warranty.
