    Hi guys
Has anyone experienced a heating of the CPU 50 Celsius (even at almost no load) after introducing new RAM upgrade (from 8 to 16GB) on in the Lenovo Y580 ? Any remedies?

you've got a lot of false issues with your laptop eh? There are no remedies for computer hypochondriasis.

why would ram heat up a cpu? It's exactly the same shape isn't it?

what's the weather and temperature like in your area today?

    45-50 C is considered normal.

idle temps are insignificant. You should only worry if your load cpu temp hits 100 C

How did you upgrade to 16GB? Y580 max is 8GB according to specs.

8GB is only the max because that is all that Lenovo supports. You can buy aftermarket RAM and put it in. Check out the Y580 Owners Thread.

Hmmm... OK, that's good to know.

I went to Crucial's web site yesterday and did a search on compatible memory because I was thinking about upgrading to 16, but even on their site it shows the max per slot is 4gb. I guess I could just get it and try it.

    Thanks
