I filed a complaint against Lenovo with the Eastern NC BBB last Tuesday but have still not heard back from either the BBB or Lenovo. From what I've heard, it seems most people have received responses within just a few days. Has anyone else had to wait this long for a response?

I'd say wait a little longer just in case.

Pray tell, what was the problem?

I ordered a T60p back in March 2007 which was delayed twice (pushing it back to 5/25/07), at which time I canceled since the T61 came out. Because of the delays, I lost out on a 15% AMEX Tailormade discount and received $200 in credit towards a future purchase from Lenovo.

I ordered a T61p the first day it came out (7/11/07) and have received 2 delay notices on it so far, pushing the ESD into mid-September. In both the T60p order AND the T61p I have been told a number of conflicting stories/reasons for the delays, and my Customer Relations Manager responds to maybe half my e-mails and never any voicemails.

She also refuses to offer any compensation in relation to the new T61p delays, citing that she is allowing me to use the 15% off and $200 credit from the previously-screwed up T60p order.

    +++++

In my complaint, I requested that simply my laptop to be shipped out and to receive equivalent compensation for the new delays (a $50-100 credit for each delay).

I filed a complaint because their website advertised a price, but would not let you purchase at the price. When I called in to sales, they told me it would cost $200 more than what they site advertised ( their system had an error ).

I got a response from the BBB 3 weeks later with 'Closed - unpersuable'

If had not had external forces strongly encouraging me to use Lenovo ( IE: they will subsidize the cost of a lenovo laptop, but not any other brand ), I would NEVER use them again. The run around they give you + the rude sales staff is not worth it, esspecially when their systems are have a slightly premium cost over other business grade laptops.

Its sad, but Dell actually look really good compared to them - dell people are atleast nice, even if they don't the difference between SATA and SCSI.

What was the reason for the delay. Are they waiting for a part?

probably a display screen, i just got a call from tony, who offered me a free 9 cell battery for the delay. Thats a estimated value of probably 50 bucks. Not too bad, but i definitely would of prefered a earlier shipment.

Can you buy a genuine, new 9 cell battery for 50 bucks? Seems to me they're worth more than that...

Am I the only one who finds the reason for complaint a bit pissy and whiny? Otter had a good reason to file a complaint, which may've been better suited for the FTC, but still, saying you got a huge discount but it wasn't as much as you wanted because you thought it should be more due to customer service reps not knowing how exactly the supply chain was functioning seems like whining, sorry.

Everyone is having delays and you're not special. You already got a HUGE discount and lenovo's really done nothing wrong and if I worked at the BBB I would've thrown out your case immediately. If you don't like what Lenovo's doing, go elsewhere. That's your right and what you should be doing instead of filing frivolous complaints.

And before you're saying "Boo hoo but you don't know my pain" I ordered on 5/22 and just got my machine 8/15. Beat that. Was I thrilled with Lenovo? Certainly not, but I know they're just people working jobs, and sometimes some of those people suck at their job. Didn't find any reason worth filling out a report over it. They didn't overcharge me, in fact they credited me some, they delivered exactly what I ordered too. SO far you have no room to file anything.

Yeah, sorry, this was to the op. I got a 6 cell battery for my initial screwups, and because of the later screwups $100 credit.

Did he say that your laptop was going to ship out on the 4th? He called me earlier while I was out, and left a message that my original expected ship date was tomorrow (23rd) but now it's looking like the 4th of September.

    1. There is a difference between "customer service reps not knowing how exactly the supply chain was functioning" and multiple CSRs giving customers inaccurate information- if I promised you that your system would ship today, and it ended shipping a month from now, that is lying. "Not knowing" is simply a euphemism. CSRs could have just said "they don't know".

    2. The "HUGE" discount I have received was for the delays on the FIRST order. There has been absolutely nothing offered in compensation for the second order. The discounts/credit were the result of the screw-ups on the FIRST one, which is a completely separate case from my current T61p order.
