I went to www.lenovo.com after seeing the US prices, T60 from 959$. But when I picked my country, France, the prices change considerably and T60 costs from 1610 euros without VAT.

So, a T60 shipped from China to France costs double than the T60 that is shipped to the US.

I like the quality of Lenovo laptops, but this is just unethical and I´m not going to support this company by buying anything from them until the pricing will be fair.

It's not unethical. This is the most basic level of price discrimination, you have two markets with different demand elasticities and they are easily kept separate. The airlines do it too. You have to remember a few things: everything is cheaper in the US (BMW's even cost less in the US than they do in Germany), and also IIRC you guys have high import tariffs on China. Also, statistically the EU 12 have much higher marginal propensity to save than the US, meaning they consume at a slower rate (I imagine this would also apply to computers) and since they buy new computers less often than Americans, Lenovo has to make more profit on each sale.

I really can't think of anything that's cheaper in Europe than in the US. Even rOtring pens are more expensive in Germany than the US and Aurora pens more expensive in Italy than in the US. Heck, even Hermes ties are cheaper in the US than in France.

Sure, many laptops are cheaper in the US, like Dell etc, but not 100% more expensive. A Dell in Europe without VAT and other taxes isn´t much more expensive than a Dell in the US.

BTW, my Canton speakers are much cheaper in Europe than in the US: ;)

Perhaps part of the reason for the extra-large pricing disparity is the sale they're running in the US at the moment.

Europe is an expensive continent. Well, you may find some stuff for cheap. But it is generally very expensive.

Yes, that too is a lot of it - before the sale the prices were different but not hugely different.

Never heard of that brand. I know my Senneheisers were more expensive in Germany than I paid for them here in the US.

No I don´t think so. I´m leaning towards Fujitsu-Siemens at the moment. I´m hoping that new deals will appear soon since the Christmas season is approaching. If there will be a good Lenovo sale, it will be my first choice. :)

There's little choice and few retailers in the UK. The lack of configuration and the Top Seller scheme are drawbacks.

I'm probably going to buy a T60 but not until the new year now.
