After emailing multiple requests to both customer service and sales this week, I have yet to receive a response as to why the total charge at checkout, confirmed on the post order "thank you" page (screenshot saved, luckily) is different than the total later emailed me by lenovo.

Any other ideas, or other department email addresses to try? Telegram? Postcard? Anything but telephone- I've found it is a MUST to have documented correspondence with these guys, after multiple instances of being given misinformation, and taking their word that an order was cancelled over the phone, then getting charged anyways.

My favorite notebooks by far, else I wouldn't be putting up with this. Wish my desired configuration wasn't so obscure, or I'd just buy hassle free from a retailer. But this is probably the first time anyone has ever opted for a flexview on such a low spec'd system. For all the extra processor, RAM, fingerprint, bluetooth, 7200rpm, 3 year, and everything else I'd have to pay for that generally comes along on thinkpads with flexview- it'd be nowhere close to a grand, much less under.

But might not be this way anymore, anyways.

If you are lucky, they are actually working on this. If multiple people have complained, then the first ones may have triggered a response and all the others got no reply due to "Meh, no need to reply, the problem will be solved shortly and we'll send out a general Sorry mail after that"

Have you tried CALLING them? By emailing them you're just asking to be ignored. From years of bad experience I've learned that emailing strangers/companies/whatever is the best way for them to ignore you! I email friends/family/colleagues but strangers/companies/whatever? Forget it. I've had the worst record getting anyone from those types of people to email me back.

Dude, he JUST explained why he didn't want to call- and that's because he's worried he can't get any physical evidence of the conversation seeing how many a conversation with Lenovo sales ended up producing nothing. Although, I'd suggest to you, Leon, that you call but make sure to take down their the rep's name and whatever information relevant to the support inquiry (ie. case number, etc.).

It's pretty lame that they are giving you this hassle, I canceled a order with them 2 days after I submitted it and it worked out fine. After telling them on the phone, I checked the order number in the email they gave me and it said the number couldn't be processed. So I assumed it was canceled successfully but I did find it odd that they didn't send me a email.

So I guess you can try checking the order number, if it still says it's being processed then the order is still not canceled. I think it's lame that they lie to you about canceling it, they make it sound like its a hard thing to do by the complaints some people have.

Sorry, you caught me I didn't want to read it. I even searched "call" and came up with nothing so I figured he didn't say anything about it. I read it now anyway.

Do what johnny said, take down their rep number and be pissed if they don't cancel it. Also record it. Then after they finish ask for a physical confirmation to be sent to you either via mail or email.

Yeah, that whole cancellation ordeal is (mostly) over with already. I was just referencing it for basis of my phone hesitance- because I did actually get the guys name that time (Scott, sales supervisor). It still shipped, I got it and have since returned it. Was told there'd be no 15% (Olivia, Customer Service), but again- via phone, so no record. But we'll see if I get hit or not for 15% when my card gets credited.

In this case, I can just see me calling, them saying "Oh, that was an error, we'll be charging you the price you checked out at, so disregard that email." I'd have his name again of course, then be surprised if they didn't charge the higher amount.

So I'm giving it til the end of the week, then I'll have no real choice but to call. What I'm going to do is present my question, then insist they copy the explanation/solution to via email. They won't like it (or do it), but I must have documentation.

Really I'm just venting, if this all gets worked out I'm going to be real happy. Thanks for reading.

Well, don't know if this is good or bad news-

I just got off the phone with them, said it WAS a glitch... however- I had to give him a different quote number proving it was configurable to that price (done), and NOW have to wait until after it ships before he can submit the price match for approval (not cool).

Just don't understand why, if it's a glitch, and a mistake that the price jumped after checking out, that price matching to a completely different quote is even involved.

Once they ship it, if for some reason it gets denied (he was confident it would be approved), I've gotta ship it back.

    (thanks klinger)

    Well, did I choose correctly?

    I was given two choices:

    1. Get charged the higher amount now, let it ship, at which time (and only at this time) can the CS rep can submit my quote and screen shot of the confirmation page for a price change. Bad news is I'd have to risk possible denial, which he is convinced would not happen with the two pieces evidence I sent him. Still.

    2. Cancel the order now, let them fix the price, then reship. Cons of this route are waiting longer obviously, and possibly losing my fatwallet cashback, because I already got the cashback email (reflecting what the price was supposed to be, ironically). But when they cancel and reorder, I probably lose that.

I went #2. I figure if something goes wrong, and I don't get it at the price they sold it for, I'll pass. If I lose fw cashback, well that sucks but far less than losing $250.

    Ah, what a mess.

Get a voice recorder and record your phone calls, but make sure you tell them you are recording it, otherwise it may be illegal.

Did this issue get resolved, and if so, how? I just placed an order for 2 T61's and was overcharged about $150.

    Yes, it was resolved.

Just a head's up though, the screenshot saved of order confirmation was not the reason they "price matched" (as if that describes charging your card more than what you bought it for)- I had to "price match" to an independent order quote.

Leon glad to hear you got it resolved. I am considering ordering a flexview with a $250 coupon (new one that is basically same deal as yours if i recall correctly) and I was wondering if they finally honored the coupon for you. I assume that you got your FlexView T60 in the end and that you're happy with it.
