    Hello,
Does lenovo have a docking station that has an expresscard slot in it? Hp has just standard docking station and an advanced version which has express card slot.

Or maybe a docking station with ultrabay + ultrabay to expresscard slot adapter?

I want this to know if the eGPU solution is convenient for this notebook

Since the memory addressable change in one of the BIOS revisions (and a HW revision that prevents the BIOS from downgrading past a certain level in newer X220), it's no longer convinient.

I know that the Mini-Dock Series 3 is the *official* dock from Lenovo, but I have no clue if it has an ExpressCard slot.

None of the Lenovo docks have an EC slot. Also for the X220 is the X220 special dock - can't remember the name. The Mini-Dock Series 3 has more ports but the X220 special one has an ultrabay.

Ultrabase Series 3 is the name that you are looking for.

The current builds coming from Lenovo don't allow you to downgrade the BIOS to one with a 3.0 TOLUD without messing with the BIOS installer (and risking bricking the laptop).

Unless they fix the TOLUD, an eGPU capable laptop from Lenovo can only have 3GB of memory installed.

so if I would replace the 4GB ram stick with 2+1GB sticks the x220 would work for sure with DIY eGPU?

Yep. Same goes for any of the current models. The only exception would be the ones with a discrete GPU, then you have to disable the dGPU for the eGPU to work. The X220 doesn't have a dGPU option so you don't have to worry about that.
