Hey, I have the lowest spec Lenovo e425 on earth. I got it with windows xp, 2gb ram, a 5200rpm 300gb hdd and the lowest-tier processor available which crawls like a crippled slug.

I already bought 8gb of 1600ram and an SSD and upgraded to Windows 10. Now, I want to know if it's possible to swap the processor out with something higher end? The old amd processors are a dime a dozen now, and if I can significantly increase the speed for less than a stick of ram, why not?

If it's possible to swap out the APU, what is the fastest processor I can change it for? The best spec'd processor in the e425 owners thread was the AMD A8-3500M, so I'm assuming that is the safest bet if it's possible to swap, but would it be possible to go even faster?

According to the hardware maintenance manual, the CPU is replaceable.
