What the heck, that's totally not cool why did they now finally decide to add that option instead offering it in the first place? Now for my upgrade I have to purchase a few extra things instead of them providing it initially. Oh well.

They offered Vista x64 for quite some time now (not for all notebooks).

Well that sucks, wish I had that option when I purchased mine. I would of definitely chose that option instead of just the 32-bit OS of it.

You can upgrade for free using the Windows Anytime Upgrade disk.

Ya I know, but that's purchasing the x64 disk *already did* and getting an external DVD drive.

If you have a 4gb USB drive you can install Vista from that. Use your anytime upgrade disk to to create a bootable Vista USB drive. It's an option if you don't want to get an external DVD drive. http://www.otgnet.com/Content/Default.aspx?Cat=all,Title=3764

BTW, I got the 4GB Corsair Voyager USB drive from newegg for $27 free shipping.

If you ordered 32 bit.... Lenovo will not give you 64 bit. They are set up for strict replacement.

You can download Vista 32-bit and 64-bit and create install disks from this website: http://www.mydigitallife.info/2007/05/08/windows-vista-free-direct-download-link/
I'll probably be update my Clean Install guide to include information on downloading and creating your own Vista installation disk for those who do not have a real vista install disk. I plan to use this and create a more user friendly guide with some better options for burning an image file when I get the chance.
