I specced a T520i yesterday for an excellent value ($660). I saved the specs and went back today to buy it. As I was configuring the machine, I got an invite for one of those live chat sessions. In short, I asked the rep if they would honor yesterdays price and I would buy it now ($ went up). He said send him the spec and he'd check. He came back and said no. After that, and above the chat thread you see below, he trashed Dell & HP many times.
Not sure if this is typical of post-IBM service, but I thought it was extremely unprofessional (even though this guy was probably in Mumbai working for $2/day.

Unfortunately, I could not save the entire thread.

Y'know, I got an invite and was about to ask them why they were saying that the T420 was one price with a coupon but displayed another, much much higher one, in the cart post-coupon.
It seems to counter the advice in the sticky'd thread. -
I thought these people were simply following their "protocol".

I have found that if you call in they are way more likely to help you with these kind of things. Your wait time is also shorter compared to online chat.
-
It's a very shortsighted and unhelpful response from the rep that served you, but anyway did you managed to save the quote or have reference say in some sort of a screenshot? You could try calling them instead of doing a live chat, there could be some reps that would try to sort out a deal given its commission based nature.

I called and spoke to a rep immediately after and the best she would do is 5% discount. The price difference is about $150 between yesterday and today.

Just an update;
I received an email from someone @ Lenovo regarding my 'situation.' They apologized about the poor response from the chat rep and asked me to send them the spec from the T520 I configured for $659. The individual said he'd try to make it 'right.' Upon sending him the spec he admitted that their were pricing errors on their site.
He now says the best he can do is offer $100 off the website price. Here is my spec:
ThinkPad T520 - 1 Yr Depot Topseller Warranty
Processor: Intel Core i3-2350M Processor (2.30GHz, 3MB L3, 1333MHz)
Operating system: Windows 7 Professional 64
Operating system language: Windows 7 Professional 64 English
Display type: 15.6" HD+ (1600 x 900) LED Backlit Anti-Glare Display, Mobile Broadband Ready
System graphics: Intel HD Graphics 3000
Total memory: 6 GB PC3-10600 DDR3 SDRAM 1333MHz SODIMM Memory (2 DIMM)
Keyboard: Keyboard US English
Camera: 720p Camera
Hard drive: 500 GB Hard Disk Drive, 7200rpm
Optical device: DVD recordable multiburner
System expansion slots: Express Card Slot & 4 in 1 Card Reader

Power cord: Country Pack North America with Line cord & 65W AC adapter
Integrated WiFi wireless LAN adapters: Intel Centrino Ultimate-N 6300 (3x3 AGN)
Integrated mobile broadband: Integrated Mobile Broadband - Upgradable
At this time of the year, I am not sure if @ $800 + tax this is even a decent deal. I suspect I can spec out a better 15" for cheaper. Maybe its time to get a Macbook Pro.
Any other 15" PC's out there that I should be considering? -
When you say you saved the specs, do you mean you made a quote? If not, that's what you should be doing. Then you've got 30 days to decide and Lenovo will honor the quote. Not many retailers will honor yesterday's price.
-
I also found their online chat person rude and very unhelpful.. Basically the same, not willing to work towards a solution where they end up with my money.
