I called in to Lenovo three days ago during their 15% 48 hour sale. I am tax exempt so I have to call in as they have no way to process such an order online.

The Chinese accented lady said to e-mail a saved cart on my online account to her e-mail address and she would reply with a quote and set up my business account. Then I would submit my tax exempt info.

Three days later I still have no response and of course the sale is over. The lady said there would not be any more decent sales til Feb 15th (Valentines).

Is it this difficult to buy from Lenovo? I mean Dell has bent over backwards to get the sale from me in the past and I am beginning to think the E6500 might not be looking so bad after all. At least the Dell sales was a good experience whereas the service was questionable. If Lenovo Sales is this bad how much worse is the customer service?

I sent another e-mail to the lady today. Will see if she responds but come on. I thought we were in a deep recession?

From my experience lenovo does not call back unfortunately...and emails don't usually get sent. Also Chinese accented? I thought we had call centers in India and then some in the South US. Maybe she was just chinese in the south though and has no bearing on the ownership of the company.

Don't worry about waiting until Feb 15th for a sale. Lenovo's dishes out coupons so often that the real sales is when they hit 25%+ off.

Hmmm. How the heck do I get a quote if they don't follow through on what they claim is the procedure for tax exempt businesses. Their website also states/confirms tax exempt must call in as the website does not support that application.

Dell sure was easier to buy from.

Online seems like the most consistent way for lenovo but unfortunately that is not doable for you currently. If you do call again I would not settle for a callback (tell them they said that before). Request to speak with a manager.

I did once get a call back (forgot what the issue was). This was someone who had given me his extension, so when I called customer service, the rep answering the call saw who the previous person was, so he told me he'll have him call me back in about 10 minutes. Honestly I was slightly surprised that he did :) . Otherwise, every time I call, the person who answered had strong Indian accent, one was so bad that the whole call lasted much longer than it should have as I needed him to repeat almost every sentence 2~5 times (shipping date repeated 5 times). (Granted they were all quite patient, but too bad it took too much time and effort for a simple call.)

That's really too bad about the customer service, I would question how badly Lenovo wants my business if I were given that treatment. As far as the 15% off coupon code, I wouldn't worry, it'll be back.

I think it might be best to try to establish an account and get the tax exempt info established so if a coupon comes along perhaps it will be an easier process.

Would be nice if I had a personal customer rep./account manager.

Also, why the need for coupons. If they really want your business they will work to get the sale. Last time I bought a desktop (dell) the guy on the phone negotiated the price with me a little better than what was coming up. He was American Too.

Wonder what the secret time is to call to get an American.

Ya but when? seems they were had deeper cuts early but will now ride the 10/15% level for awhile.
