I'm looking at T61s from the Lenovo Outlet, but their site doesn't seem to list what graphics card the machines have for some listings. The machines' types are also not listed (ie 8891, 8897, etc.) so I can't determine what graphics card the machines have by running them through the parts lookup site. Is there any way to get the information I'm looking for with just the serial number (which is listed)? I ask because ideally I'm looking for a T61p with the Quadro FX card and none seem to be listed as having it.

The serial number you see listed should be in an XXXYYYYYYY format. 'XXX' denotes the first three numbers of the type number, so if you saw a T61 with the numbers "888" and it had a 4:3 screen, it would most likely be type 8889. The 'YYYYYYY' is the actual serial number.

Right, but without the last digit of the 889x number, I can't look up the specs using Lenovo's web site.

I had the same problem once - I looked up the TA book ( ftp://ftp.software.ibm.com/ pc/pcinstitute/psref/tabook.pdf) and then it was trial and error till I found the correct last digit.
By the way, do take a screencapture of the description/ specifications page in the outlet so that you have some proof in case you receive a wrong model. Their outlet is not the most organized in my experience.
