I heard news around that Lenovo has decided to decrease of its Shenzhen IIPC facilities and outsource al Thinkpad models (T?) to Wistron next year. Anyone has any clue at this, pls kindly indicate. Thanks.

The difference lies in: Lenovo will shrink or even close its own manufacturing facility, i.e. IIPC instead of production in-house, if outsourcing more orders to ODM partners in the future.

Does that make a difference to the end user I think would be the relevant question?

I think outsourcing comes with lower costs but lower BQ...right?

It like Volvo being outsourced. They used to be built in their home manufacturing plant, now they are built somewhere in Asia (I cant recall where).

Back to topic, where did you hear about this news?
