I've checked on Lenovo's site today and it seems they don't have that option. Also, I saw somebody mention on the forums that they ran out of those. Does anybody know more about this, and possibly when they can have them restocked for online ordering? Thanks!

You can still order it through academic ordering. There is no apparent delay, although that doesn't guarantee when you would get it.

If you want the LED WXGA+ display I suggest you call Lenovo sales (1-866-96-THINK) and see if you can configure one over the phone.

Exactly what I plan on doing next week hopefully. As I DEF want the LED screen as I'm shooting for the 10 hour battery life with discrete turned off.

Just an FYI. Right now all of the LED panel T400 notebooks ordered via academic ordering that i've seen are shipping with Samsung LED panels which people here really dislike. Its been like that since early April. I bet those are the panels they got in stock back then and are available for builds right now.

    what is the academic ordering?
is that ordering by using a college/school affiliation?

It is a custom ordering portal for students/faculty that are tied to Universities that are set up with Lenovo. Not all universities offer this portal, but many do. I suggest you check with either Lenovo or the IT people at your school to see if they have a special portal.

Quick update: I've tried looking at Lenovo-Purdue University's store. The WXGA+ LED screen option IS there... :)

screens are such a personal choice. For example currently my favorite screen is the Samsung on Asus G1, which by many is considered crappy and grainy.

I dont mind the LED Samsung on T400 that much. Its not perfect by any means but it is also not terrible. Out of the box it is kind of maladjusted. It comes from factory with gamma which is way jacked up. Reducing it helps alot. My biggest beef with this panel is inaccurate red color, which is almost impossible to get completely right. But for non-image regular work such as word processing and web browsing, the panel is very nice, and I actually like it more than the LG alternative. Ironically, yesterday the backlight got screwed up on my T400, so it went in for repair. Wonder if it will come back with another Samsung or something else.
