Historically, I've never purchased an extended warranty for a system. Never really needed it. Any problems I had were relatively minor. But recently everyone has told me to go with some form of a 3 year warranty (I'm starting law school, so 3 years)... and I'm kinda lost in regards to the options.
I'll be purchasing the x61 tablet, which leaves me with the 'Warranty Service' and 'Protection Services'. I understand what 'Protection Services' covers, but does anyone know what the 'Warranty Service' covers? Is it merely service upgrades and stuff? Does anyone have any experience with Lenovo and these services, is it worthwhile or a waste of quite a bit of money?
Additionally, this is my first go-around with a tablet so I was wondering if I should be expecting a shorter lifespan for my screen (in which case would the protection service be apt?).
Thanks in advance.

Bump from the 2nd page, in the hope that someone can help out.

I recently purchased a T60 with a 3-year warranty + accident protection. My understanding is that the regular warranty covers all hardware defects and failures, from your hard-drive to the letters rubbing off prematurely on your keyboard. If you purchase accident protection, the cost will automatically include the hardware warranty for the same time length (otherwise someone could just claim that their hard-drive crashed because they dropped it
)

i think i might get the accidental protection on a tablet. As you mentioned the touchscreen would take more potential abuse and have a higher risk of damage.

I believe it's in our best interest to get the extended warranty from Lenovo for at least 3 years...(the Depot next day or the on-site for a little more)
But I personally am Hesitant to pay for a "Third Party" insurance policy for "Accidental Coverage" because these usually contain countless Limitations and Clauses...ie.; Do they pay "Re[lacement Cost if dropped or damaged through user negligence or "Cash value" ,
at the time of damage.
But anyway I always get the 3 or 4 year extended warranty from the Manufacturer...
Good luck in Law School!
