I am trying to use an Intel Centrino wireless N 6300 in a Lenovo T410s WWAN slot. The card is recognized, but I an getting an error that the wireless radio must be turned on. The radio switch is on, so I'm not sure what to do. Any suggestions? Oh I'm running Windows 8.1 Pro. Thanks!

Welcome to the forum!
May I ask what prompted you to install a WLAN card in the WWAN slot in the first place? -
Thanks! Long story short I bought the new Intel 6300 card on Amazon and accidentally damaged the WLAN socket while removing the old card. Since the WLAN socket won't recognize the new Intel card, and the WWAN does, I've concluded I ruined the WLAN socket.
However, even though the new card shows as working properly in the device manager, I can't get the wireless radio to turn on.....
I have a feeling I may be stuck buying a USB adapter at this point, but I figured the forum was worth a shot. -
Hmmm...try booting a "live" Linux CD/DVD/USB/whatever and see whether the WLAN connection pops up in that environment.
Good luck. -
One of the pins is hardware on/off switch. It's probably only working for original wlan slot.
First thing is to figure out what pin it is, then mask it with a tape or nail polish or whatever you have.
I remember someone did that for their laptop and reported it here in the forum when the actual switch broke. Worth trying. -
Thank you ajkula66 and KLF for the input.
KLF - I just got done taping pin #20 with the thinnest piece of duck tape imaginable, and IT WORKS!
I'm good to go with much faster wifi speeds. Thanks again for the input.
