Whenever I try running the display at 60hz, I get a vertical ban of distorted pixels on the left side of the display about 1 inch from the left bezel.

This happens when I change the refresh rate from 50 hz to 60 hz in both the Intel graphics control panel or the windows display control panel.

Also, when I boot the computer in does the same thing until the windows logo appears. (So it must boot in 60hz and then switch to 60hz when windows loads)

    I have the Window 7 (64bit) most recent driver from Lenovo's site, 29 january 2010, v8.15.10.2025 installed.

Anyone, have a suggestion or fix for this????

Just spoke with Lenovo tech support, and they said I have a bad Lcd, so it goes back to the depot for a replacement.

Is there anyway to check who made the panel that I have now?? I want to see if they put the exact same type (manufacturer) as a replacement.

Also, after I think about this more, How could they ship me this computer? You don't even have to boot into windows to see that the lcd is bad. It is upsetting that I have to be without a laptop for another extended period.

Does anyone know or have any experience in dealing with this type of situation? And is there anything that I could do or demand from Lenovo, replacement laptop while mine is being fixed, discount, anything?

that's a samsung screen, apparently - the same as every other t410s i've seen that has run everest so far

up to this point there's no indication there's a "panel lottery" on the t410s - they all seem to have the same len4036 samsung screen

its a bad thing - those samsung screens are horrible - literally the worst that notebookcheck has ever tested, and they are very thorough with their testing

"horrible" is subjective. i think my (samsung) screen on the t410s is more than adequate, in fact excellent, at least for general home/business use.

    It could be both,
If you like the screen, this is a good thing because you the screen will always be the same quality as your orginal screen.
If you don't like the screen, there is no way to change the screen to something better.

my t410s just started showing what sounds like the same issue. Looks just like this:
YouTube - Thinkpad T410s Corrupted LCD Vertical Band Issue
(not mine, just did a web search for vertical band, t410s)

    Was yours fixed properly?

I have a growing concern that this is a design issue rather than just a dud LCD (some folk posted that it happened as they were holding their t410s and felt that it might be due a mechanical interaction with the display or its connectivity).

I have a brand new T410s and it has the same "vertical band" issue one inch from the left side. It is VERY annoying. I can remove it most of the time by pressing underneath the screen. Concerned that this could by a systemic problem. Except for this issues, I absolutely lovethe T410s. How have others resolved this? Anyone gotten a replacement and had the problem reappear?

    Thanks

I have had this problem of the 1.5 inch vertical band about 2 inches from the left bezel.
    1. They replaced the screen.
    2. Problem came back. Should have realized it wasn't the screen since when connected to an external monitor, didn't have the problem.
    3. They replaced the laptop.
    4. Worked fine for 2 weeks, now I have the same problem on a different machine.
    5. I have all the latest drivers, etc.
