Depends on which state you reside, but if it where my state, it'd be about $700 on a $10k notebook. The $700 is what I'm willing to spend these days on a notebook.

I placed my order at 12:01 this morning online jsut incase there would be an issue with supply. My taxes werent automatically deducted, but they are supposed to refund my the difference. I have a W510 on the way

Sure thing, I can see if I can get that expense to go through. Oh, except I live in MA and tax free weekend is next weekend -- maybe, the governor still hasn't signed off on it so it remains to be seen.
Hey, at least those of us in the U.S. don't have any national sales tax or VAT whatever they call it. I have family in the UK and electronic goods and especially computers are so much more there, mainly due to VAT. -
@Andrew, the price of goods in Europe cost more not only due to VAT, even the base price of system with no VAT or Tariff added is still higher.
