Hi, I own a u300s (i5) and was curious to what kind of battery life people were getting with their u300s. I have been having some inconsistent indications of battery life from the mini-icon on the bottom right. At 41% it gives only 1hr 38mins of battery life remaining (regular browsing and brightness level at 50%). Sometimes the indicator jumps to 2hr+. Is that normal?

Is the i5 version more battery efficient than the i7 version?

    Thanks

Lenovo advertises up to 8hrs of battery life. But running on Balanced/ Energy Star I simply can't see how that is possible. When I am not even running a movie (just playing music in the background), I can only get about 5.5 hrs

Hey man, to be honest you must be pretty lucky to even have 5.5 hours. I just got my U300s last week Friday, and this thing is a mess. Gets hot in no time, battery life sucks - and I don't use any 'power' applications, just casual Internet browsing. Worse still is the WiFi range...not sure if you're experiencing any problems there.

The reason I say you're lucky is because I get a sub 4-hour battery life - around 3.5 hours. The only thing I have changed is 60% brightness, otherwise I'm running on Energy Star.

Do you think my U300s is somewhat defective? Or is this just normal? Also, agree with you that the battery indicator is nonsense. At 70%, it tells me 4.5 hours left. At 69%, it says 1.3 hours. At 68%, 2.6 hours. WTH?
