Hello,
I got a T430 with Win 7 pre-installed. Will upgrade to Win 8 tomorrow and wondering what programs in the preinstalled suite of Lenovo suite are not necessary anymore (or which are simply bloatware?)
Someone said that Power Manager is not needed, replaced by Win 8's own Power Manager. I suppose there would also be a difference in pre-installed software if I ordered with Win 8 from Lenovo.
Thank you for your advice.

I'd recommend installing the upgrade, then doing a full wipe and reset from the settings of Win8. This will wipe everything and basically reinstall a clean copy of Win8 (without licensing issues since you already validated your key during the upgrade). Warning: you will lose EVERYTHING (programs, files) so be sure to back up your photos and stuff first. You can re-install your programs later. Annoying but worth it for a clean install.
A plain upgrade over Win7 is bound to cause issues. There are remnants of files left behind that caused headaches (for me at least). After you finish the reset procedure, download Lenovo System Update, run it and install everything BUT the Lenovo wireless driver. It will not install the power manager because it's not a Win8 application - doesn't even show up. FWIW, when I upgraded, it kept power manager and I was not able to open it. It just froze. I don't miss it personally.
The Win8 wifi driver appears to be much more reliable than the Lenovo one, in my experience. That's why I ignored it in the Lenovo System Update. I don't think it's necessary.
So, upgrade. Full reset. System update everything but the wifi driver. Your T430 will run smooth as butter.
