IBM is a great comapany and they make good product. But i dont know how is Lenovo going to continue the R&D of ThinkPad. And I have no idea how good is the 3000 series of consumer computers that are released by Lenovo.

    Anybody got a word????

I believe the current thinkpad series is still designed and manufacturer by the same people/factory, but lenovo 3000 series is totally different, more geared toward low end. Mind you know that Lenovo is the biggest PC company in China and they have been making their own PC/laptops for a long time.

I have a Thinkpad T42 for work and recently purchased for personal use, Lenovo 3000 N100 with the T2300 processor. It is a very nice machine and purchased for a very reasonable $699 after rebate from office depot. I don't game but have found this 3000 very good and very solid. The documentation is complete and the website for support very thorough and professional. I have had toshiba laptops and the suppport websites don't compare. Lenovo is way ahead.

I am quite happy with my "low end" but very high value machine.
