    Lenovo w500 screen goes black

    hi,
    i just installed windows 7 64bit on my lenovo w500. but after that i could not find the ati open firegl v5700 hardware to install driver. when i tried to change discrete graphics option in bios, its screen goes black after restart. but the windows loads because i could here the windows logon sound. can anyone help me to resolve this issue. i am worry.

    Try going into Safe Mode (keep tapping F8 before the Windows boot logo appears). From here it will load the basic video driver which should enable you to see things albiet at a low resolution, then run this driver to install the ATI FireGL graphics and reboot when prompted.

    thanks for reply, i did what u said, i started windows in safe Mode, and then open device manger, but i could not find the ati hardware to install the driver. the issue is my laptop has two graphics card, one is intel & the second is ati open firegl, but the intel card is working properly, but my ati card is not funtioning, when i tried to change discrete option in bios, my screen goes black.

    Did you install the Lenovo Power Manager application and driver? I heard it's a requirement for the Power Manager and Chipset Driver to be installed first before attempting to install the Switchable Graphics on the W500.
