Hi guys I'm about to buy a laptop and was wondering which would be better. I've heard of great things from sager/clevo but have been a die hard lenovo user for many years and have always been please with them. I've heard the sagers have good cooling, how is this compared to the w530? Thanks

If you are a heavy gamer (which it sounds like you are) I'd get a dedicated gaming machine. That's not the W530 is considered as far as I know.

Not that the OP really wants a gaming machine, but...

Which Lenovo would you consider a "gaming machine"?

Maybe the Lenovo Y500 or the Lenovo Y580 or some other Lenovo?

I don't think Lenovo are really known for making dedicated gaming laptops but the Y580 is a solid unit for a very affordable price.

When it comes to gaming the two most important things to look for on a laptop is CPU and GPU, the Y580 provides good option for both, especially the Nvidia GTX660M which is a very decent mobile gaming GPU.

RAM is important but almost any modern laptop will let you either upgrade or spec at least 6-8GB of ram, which is more than enough for todays demanding games. A laptop with a solid gaming GPU is much harder to find.

The Y580 would be my pick for best gaming laptop in the Lenovo line-up, assuming you want to play modern graphically demanding games on high settings.

I don't game. Development and testing with virtual machines. So I prefer 1920 x 1080 (actually 1200 but they don't make those) and 4 ram slots, for 32gb of memory.

The W530 will have much better build quality and better warranty options than a Clevo/Sager laptop. Also, if you benefit from CUDA, PhysX, or any other specialized function that the Quadro (or FirePro, if you want to look at the Precision M4700), then the W530 is also a better option. On top of that, the W530 will be lighter than most Clevo/Sager laptops you'll look at (5.75lbs vs 6.5lbs+).
