I´m planning to buy a Lenovo 3000 V200 notebook. Do I have to buy warranty upgrade at the same time when I buy the notebook or can I buy it later during the first year?

I'm very interested in this as well. I purchased a T61 with the standard warranty (1 year)> I am interested in upgrading to a 3 year depot. At checkout the cost for this was $95 with my SPP discount.

    Can I purchase an extension?

For the protection plan, I think you get up to 21 or 30 days after the purchase, forget which. For an extended warranty, I thought you could do that for the first year (basically until the original manufacturer's warranty runs out)? Best if you called Lenovo to verify.
