Just picked up a single core x100e on the outlet for dirt dirt cheap. I was really set on waiting for a dual core, but the price was too good to pass up. So anyways, the unit is coming with 1gb of ram. I'm wanting to know if adding an extra gb will make much difference in speed.

    Thanks.

Mine with nothing open is using 700mb of ram.(Battery and Access programs running in the background) I would say yes, along with a fresh install of W7.

Windows 7 is expensive, and as far as I know, the computer doesn't include a Windows 7 disc.

But I'll definitely do the ram upgrade. Thanks.

The single core is pretty slow compared to the dual core version,I would put in as much RAM as possible

x100e arrived today. I don't know what people are talking about in these things being slow. I think it runs just great. I'm quite happy with it.

Fun little machine, congrats. As Roger already touched on; if you feel the system is fast enough for you, don't spend the extra money for RAM.

The computer shop I work at had one on display (single core),which is really why I bought an X100e. When I got my dual core,I noticed it was a bit snappier. The single core reminded me of when I had an Atom powered netbook, and the dual core is pretty much a low end regular laptop CPU. I think it compares to the Intel CULV chips.

But if its fast enough for you, then great. I'm sure the base model still has to be actually faster than an Atom, just dosent feel that much more though.

I went ahead and got an extra 1GB for it. I figured it would be useful for working with large office documents, which I haven't tried yet. Really all I use it for is web browsing and chatting. I also play the Windows 7 Chess Titans.

I'm thinking the folks that think it slow probably try to run Hulu or HD movies on it.

too lazy to swap out my HDD to test it on XP,lol

I doubt it tho, most problems getting Klingon Academy to run is hardware related and not the OS

Well, it's known that KA has issues with new OS's and hardware. But I was thinking that perhaps the Radeon 3200 graphics are old enough that KA might play ok. :D
