    Hello
I am a long time mac user considering purchasing either a x201 or a sony z due apple's inability to fill the ultraportable space with a decent machine.

I am in Canada and there seems to be large discounts even on the new x201 models. My question is simply whether this is standard pricing tactics by Lenovo (hey, they are always on sale!!) or are the current discounts unique and should be taken advantage of immediately or it will be opportunity lost. Sorry for the naive questions....I am new to Lenovo and am not familiar with their pricing strategies.

    Thanks

the discount of around 10% to 15% is just a standard sale tactic of Lenovo, like the never ending closing down sale that some shops have.

But if you look around and use coupons there are some decent bargains for X201.

MacBook Air was Apple's take on ultraportable, but i guess it did not work out all that well with the low volume of sale. Lenovo's answer was the X300, X301, etc.

X series are decent machines and worthwhile investment if you plan to use your laptop for more than 2 years. But would avoid the X100e.

As just mentioned, Lenovo always discounts their computers. Sometimes they also have special employee pricing discounts across the board, but these sales only last for a few days.
