Hi, I recently got my hands on a Lenovo x300 and its a bit slow in windows sometimes so im thinking of upgrading the ram.
I have looked at lenovos supported ram and it is listed as proprietary online. This would be ok if it wasnt so expencive! does anyone know if i can use generic ram to upgrade? its less than half the cost!
thanks in advance

Just check out Crucial.com, it's got an easy wizard for finding compatible RAM. You do not have to buy through Lenovo and get ripped off by them.

Thank you for pointing me in the right direction. I suppose if they guarantee it it will it must do. Just got a bit worried that I would spend the money and it wouldn't work because its not proprietary!
Thanks again!

I upgraded the RAM on my X300 from 2 to 4 GB with Crucial RAM and it worked fine (not sure it sped up vista any, though it did increase the graphics WPI a bit).

The X300 does not use a proprietary memory format, and it's not soldered to the mainboard (unlike the Vaio P), so you can upgrade it like all other RAM - no need to buy from Lenovo.
