I bought a lenovo y410p a couple of weeks ago and noticed that they just came out with a 755 version. What are the differences between these two? I heard 755 uses less power but does it perform better? I was hoping they would come out with a geforce 750 slot so I can buy it separately and SLI my laptop. Do you think they will make a geforce 750 slot so I can SLI my laptop or will they only make it for 755?
-
-
I believe 755M is 100 MHz faster on the memory and about 50 Mhz faster on the core.
-
39 core, and 100 memory.
But yeah, just do the OC'ing yourself and save the money, that's what i did anyways. -
Do you know if they would be adding that extra slow so customers can buy it seperately to sli for 750? and 755?
-
I have no idea. So far, i even contacted Nvidia asking if i could SLI a 750 and a 755, and with no answer.
But AFAIK, SLI bays might not even come out for the Y410p. -
You can't. 755 is not SLI-ready according to it spec GeForce GT 755M | Specifications | GeForce
-
Strange, you could always just grab dual 750's and OC them, then proceed to put em in SLI, enjoy your dual 755

Hi everyone i'm going to buy a new laptop in a week or so mostly for gaming purposes now i have come to two choices which are related to this thread:
lenovo Y510p
i7 4th generation
GT 755m
1080p screen
lenovo Y500
i7 3rd genration
GT 750m
1366x 768 screen
there's not much price difference so i'm very confused as a 1080p screen would be crisp to watch movies but i'm not sure if a single gt 755m will be able to handle games on the other hand Y500 has a major battery loss as compared to Y510p because of the haswell basically i live in india and neither the gt 750m nor gt 755m graphic card ultrabay are available and i'm not sure whether they will in the future or not, although i would have gone for the Y510p but because of the confusion about gt 755m not an sli ready card i'm holding back.. can anybody give me a viable advice please i'll be very thankful! :hi2: -
This is a no brainer. Get the Y510p with 1080p display, the difference is day and night. If you live in Canada, i recommend grabbing your Y510p from here, they have a pretty attractive price configuration, which is 1099$ for 1080p/SLI/8GB SSHD:
Canada Computers | Notebooks, Netbooks & Tablets | Lenovo IdeaPad Y510p Pro Multimedia / Gaming Notebook 59375625| 15.6" Intel Core i7-4700MQ Haswell Shark Bay 8GB 1TB HDD| NVIDIA Dual SLI GT750M HDMI BT Win 8ashish12 likes this. -
well my uncle lives in brampton, ontario but i'm not sure how much tax i'd have to pay at customs moreover lenovo doesn't offer an international warranty so i'm a bit skeptic.it costs around Rs. 75000 in india which is $1260 cad approx.
anyway do you think a single GT 755m will be able to play games like gta 5(when released),watch dogs,ac 4,battlefield 4 on low settings at 1080p resolution? -
On low? Yes. But if you intend on gaming on ultra, i recommend getting SLI.
-
Those are bleeding-edge games and even 750M/755M SLI won't be able to play them at Ultra 1080p with acceptable FPS, so temper your expectations.
-
just like any other gamer i want a good lag free gaming experience i personally would disable all the eye candy stuff like anti aliasing, shadows to play games at a better frame rate but as i said i'll be mainly using it for gaming purposes and some college projects! sorry my budget doesn't allow me to buy an alienware which costs almost the double of it
but i wonder if the games can be played on a five year old console why can't it work on a mid range 2013 card.taking battlefield 4 for an example it's system requirements are still quite close to battlefield 3 and people are playing it on ultra at 1080p with a single GT 750m AA off.i guess i should wait for the benchmarks to see how they perform on a single GT 750m/GT 755m card and then buy.. -
as i said i can't,,sli is not yet available in india and i'm not sure whether it will or not, that's why i'm confused as i have a laptop which i only use for internet purposes and don't wanna end up getting another for the same!!
-
Uh no. Have you played the beta yet? BF4 is a lot more demanding than BF3. There will probably be some more optimization so the final product will run better but it will still run slower than BF3 at the same settings. A single 750m gets less than 30 FPS at 1080p Ultra in BF3 so it will be absolutely murdered in BF4. Whoever told you otherwise is full of baloney. I made a video of my Y500 650M SLI overclocked to faster than stock 750M SLI playing BF4 beta and was getting 50-60 FPS at 1080p mostly medium settings and AA off. I can't maintain a constant 60 FPS even if I turn everything to Low.

Will be ordering a 650M soon, then using DifferentSLI to get it to work with my 750M in a hybrid SLI combination
-
I've got a y410p with a single 755m right now, I just got off the phone with lenovo tech support and they said that the card was SLI capable. I then found this link to the UK geforce site showing that the 755m is indeed SLI capable, although if you were to look on the US site it would claim the opposite. The question I now have is where to find the second 755m card to SLI, and how to get it to fit into my y410p(Ultrabay)
On a side note, what you mentioned about a hybrid SLI with a 750m and a 650m - incredibly interesting. Would that also be possible with other combinations, say a 755m/650m? -
The 755, 750 and 650 are all based on the same chip, GK107 Kepler, only the clocks and the vbios are different. With a modded bios and a modded driver (both availible) you should be able to SLI. Ultrabay 650M's for the Y400 can be found on the internet, by searching for the Lenoov GN35.
-
BTW the 755m is, according to benchmarks, faster than the 660m. Players on youtube have been able to play Skyrim on Full HD and Ultra Settings with 2x AA with an fps of 40-55, which according to me is very playable. If you cant get the sli and have to choose between all the options listed then the 755m is a no brainer. However if you can get sli then 650m is the second option and the gddr5 750m would obviously be the first. As for a full HD screen just buy one sometime later. you'll get 21 to 24 inches, or you could just connect it to a tv. Either ways the screen on the lenovo y series is very good. i found the 720p screen to be really good as well. I wont get it, however, cuz I use programs such as video editing softwares, which benefit from the higher resolution (placing tools all around becomes more easy)
-
And? The 650, 750, 660 and 755 are all the same card, just different clocks.
-
Did you try it? I've been waiting since august for the y410p SLi option but it seems it will not come, is it possible to SLI with a 650M GT? I just lost hope with lenovo :3.
-
Well, Lenovo sell The y510p gt755 SLI now, i hope that Lenovo release the gt755m4 for my y410p
So it possible sli with gt755 -
Don't count on it.
-
I think and hope to able to play games in high in 1600x900p like ac4, watch dog, gta 5 and future games with this gt755m
It's possible ? Or need sli? Or better graphic card XD -
You'll need SLI for those games and that resolution, i'm afraid. However most games run fine on high settings at 720p with a single 750/755.
If you are buying a Y410p for SLI, turn back now and get a Y510p instead. Buy a Y410p if you need a smaller form factor and a lower price. -
I was afraid of that :/
-
SLI on the Y410p is on a do-it-yourself basis. Buy a M5 card, mod the bezel and hope it runs
-
Here i found this:
Lenovo Y400 i7 3630QM 3 4GHz Dual 2X GT650M2GB SLI 16GB 1TB Backlit BT W8 Gaming | eBay
Buy it and then upgrade the display yourself since it only comes with 768p screen. -
That's awfully overpriced for a refurb. People were getting them for half the price at the Lenovo Outlet. You could get a brand new Y510p SLI model for that much.
-
16GB + comes with both ultrabays (DVD and 650M). 16GB RAM is a 150$ upgrade alone.
Also concering the rarity of the ultrabays this is a pretty good deal. Only 50$ for a compatible 900p display. -
Ripoff when it's like $500 at Lenovo Outlet. If you want the Ultrabays you can buy them separately and still save major dough.
-
Poked by the outlet and saw a 900p/750M/4700MQ/8GB Y410p for 727$.
No SSD but with the money saved you can easily throw in an aftermarket one. -
Was talking about the old models, not the new ones. People here have lucked out at the Outlet and gotten the top-end config Y500 with i7, 650M SLI, 16GB RAM, 1080p, and 16GB SSD for $500-$600 refurbished.
