Hi again, my friend just buy the lenovo y460 with geforce 425. I know the optimus tech automatically changes from intel hd to geforce 425. I just want to ask, is it possible to permanently use geforce 425 instead of when only playing games? Thanks

Not possible, Intel HD will always be used to display the output.
At most you could do is change the default GPU to GT425M on nVidia control panel.

Optimus uses the GT425M to do the calculations for the image and transfers the image to be displayed by the Intel HD. There no electrical connection from the GT425M to the LCD to be able to be permanently on. Optimus requires Win7 APIs to do the cloning, so if you use Linux you'll have only Intel HD graphics.

If that's an issue, look for a Hybrid graphics system, including theY460 with HD5650+HD.
