Anybody have a clue when these laptops are coming out?
The website stated April 2011 for the longest time, now its changed to May 2011...![]()
Seems pretty sweet though, GT555m, Sandybridge, fast bootup etc..
A good alternative to alienware m14x too.![]()
-
I disagree that they are a good alternative to m14x in some regards. The y470 is only getting a GT550 and the y570 has an awful 1366x768 resolution. Also, build quality of the Ideapad hasn't always been the best. (Hopefully that changes.)
The y470 and y570 are noticeably lighter and don't look like a 5 year old designed it.
To me, it all comes down to price. If you can sell me something that is so cheap compared to the competition that it makes me overlook the negatives; You have my money. -
I cant stand the looks for the alienware, if they made a m14x in a more visually appealing case I would probably buy it. I cant expect people to take me seriously as a consultant when I am using a device that appears to be a toy. That said, the next best alternative appears to be the lenovo.

I was considering the Alienware M14x, but I hate Dell after I bought this terrible faulty XPS M1330.
Also I remembered that Alienware laptops are huge, and this one is no exception: it`s about an inch bigger in every dimension and is basically a 15 inch laptop body with a 14 inch screen. -
The design is OK, but the right border on the keyboard ruined it. I hate the look of the keyboard on most Dell laptop.

y470 and y570 are out.
-
Finally been too long of a wait. Now just waiting for Canada release and a price drop or sale.
-
For anyone who's going to buy this today (today's the last day this will work), use the coupon code "MOTHERSDAY" and save yourself a good amount of cash.
-
shoot i just ordered a m14x with 900p screen for 1270 plus tax. I can get 20% off the lenovo y570 maxxed out spec wise.
But alienware build quality is much better... what to do? -
1366x768 on a 15.6 inch screen is a turn off as well.
-
Ideally 1600x900 would be better but I do not mind 1366x768 on 15.6". The best selling point for me is that it has NVIDIA GT 555M and is not a Dell. Dell laptops are bulky and heavy with the same size screen and does not allow user upgrades without taking the whole laptop apart and did I mention Dell laptops have a overheating problem.
Lenovo Y570 with GT 555M FTW. -
Hey guys,
So I'm seriously considering buying the y570 while this mothers day coupons last, but I have a few questions. First, do you think I am getting a good deal? The specs are:

And the total before taxes and shipping comes out to about $1080. I feel like this is a very good deal, but do you guys think that they may come out with even better coupons in the near future, or should I grab this while it lasts?
Also how is Lenovo's quality in general? Is it worthwhile for me to get 2 years more warranty?
Thanks, and I hope for quick responses since this coupon will expire tonight! -
You won't find a GT555 on another 15.6" at that price. It's also worth mentioning that the version you posted is advertised as loading up windows in under 10 seconds. The screen resolution is a bit low though.
-
I have been waiting a long time for these. My interest was in the Y470, but I wanted the rapid drive, 8gb of RAM, and a blue ray drive. I don't understand why only the 570 has the rapid drive, and the cheaper version of the Y470 has the blue ray player, but the weaker processer and less ram.
I don't understand why these systems have become so uncustomizable.
The Y570 has everything I want and also a better GPU, but I really wanted a 14 inch screen. Not to mention I am not thrilled about a 15 inch with that resolution. -
I think I'm going to stick with my m14x that I just ordered. I feel like the construction of the lenovo is a bit lackluster and the longer battery life as well as 900p is more useful to me than 4 more gigs of ram, 250gb more, and blueray player.
(I'm a college freshman). -
The Y470 is not worth the price in comparison to the Y570 with the same specs IMO. But if you must have a 14" laptop then I guess it maybe worth the extra premium.
I just want the i5-2410m (dual core) version of the Y570 then I can always add a SSD or wait till SATA 3 notebook hard drives come out for an upgrade. -
I just don't understand why these aren't an option for the 14 screen. Maybe they are just selling non customized already built models of these machines since they just now became available. The real head scratcher is the 470 with less specs having the blue ray while the more expensive one does not.
Go figure.
I have been waiting since January to replace my laptop, and I have my eyes set on the E420s and the Y470. The E420s is just taking too long to get the discrete graphics, but now that the Y470 is out I can't get the exact specs that I want.
The 570 seems like a pretty good deal with the coupon though. Just not sure if I am ready to give up on a 14 inch that suits me. -
DOH!
Well I was getting ready to pull the trigger on the Y570 and then the motherday coupon expired. Not going to pay an extra $200 for the machine. Too bad because I actually had it in my cart and ready to go, but let my session timeout. -
Lenovo never seems to have the config that I want.
500GB HDD 4GB RAM DVD Burner but and I7 -
I do not know why there is no less option than 6gb of ram. this is ridiculus I will never use 8gb ram. 4 is enought, i should be an option tha I can chose 4 gb of ram and price is chepper

I called Lenovo Canada today to ask about the Y470/Y570 release date in Canada and the representative on the line said it won't be available till next month. Clearly the guy does not know what he's talking about, on the Lenovo IdealPad Y570 Canada website it says the laptop will be available April 2011, it's now May 2011 and the laptop has been released in the US. My guess stands corrected but I think Canada gets the laptops in mid May 2011.
