What is the warranty for the laptop? What are the different types and prices? Instead of having to send it back to Lenovo, can you take it to Best Buy or Staples and have them work on it with the Lenovo warranty? If so how does it work? I would like to know all I can before I buy the laptop than have to send it back and risk something happening to it in transit or lost somewhere. Any help would be great. If you have any experiences please share.

Does anyone know what warranties Lenovo offers with the y500's?

The usual 1/2/3 year depot +/- accidental coverage.

But can you take it into a store instead of sending the laptop back to Lenovo for service?

The two options are send to a depot or they come to your home (more expensive).
