How is google earth on your S12? runs ok?
Is the performance of this machine comparable to 1GHz pentium III? -
Never tried google earth. I would say it would preform better then my old 1Ghz P3
-
I 'll give it a try and I expect 4x~8x performance boost from pentium III 1GHz-->133MHz FSB vs 800 MHz-->.5M catch vs 1M
I hope I won't find any loose parts in the frame. -

Everytime I have ran either virtual box or vm workstation on a atom and tried to boot any flavor of linux it spit out errors like no tomarrow...this was on asus and a acer netbook on xp. The only thing that worked was running dos...apparently it is due to the low amount of ram atom supports

nano already is 64bit....
But what would be the point of an atom with 64bit support if it can't overcome the 2gb ram limit? -
-
the way via does there chipsets the nano technically can support 4gb of ram but no one has enabled a nano on a netbook with that feature yet
-
There is no much difference theoretically between 2G and 3G RAM for running vmware, you can run any OS with 2G, dedicating 1G RAM to each one(though vista needs more).
But the main factor is nano's 1M cache and the fact that is faster on FSB that causes better experience on vmware.
with virtulization enabled on CPU you get better performance for that. -
Please, is there any1 who have energy cut for windows 7 64b? Vista 32b version don't work - it is installed, but I have no controller for power schemes

This has a really nice chassis. As well as a great selection of ports. I hope they keep any future refresh similar looking.
I'm kinda annoyed that Intel decided to integrate their crappy IGPs onto future Pineview processors. Would've preferred a Lincroft/Pine-Trail based 40nm ION 2 chipset (w/ DX11 support) coupled with a 32nm HT-enabled/dual-core Atom. What a waste.
Although the current ION model could do with a C2D ULV option (in this case, the Atom CPU is more of a bottleneck than the GPU), 2GB DDR 3 RAM, and 11 n wi-fi. Then I would buy one for the $600 asking price. -
SU3500 + ION + HDMI out = pretty sweet IMO. -
that would be pretty decent... honestly the ion is more suitable for SU series anyways then the atom....the cpu wouldnt be a huge downer like it is now!

I received my S12 Nano about a month ago but have been busy with other things so I haven't yet taken it out of the box. I've also got an extra 2GB of GSkill RAM waiting to be installed.
I purchased a copy of Win7 and will download it to a USB memory stick. I want to install Win7 from the get-go.
My question is, how do I do the install from the memory stick? Do I have to boot the S12 in XP, access the BIOS and change the boot sequence so it'll boot from the memory stick?
I've only installed an OS once or twice and it's always been from a DVD. Any help is appreciated.
TIA!

you can just press f12 to access the boot menu when your booting but anyways there are tons of guides on how to install from a usb stick
I haven't tried this method but it might work really well Link -

One of the end caps located on the hinges (looks like a large button) is missing from my S12. Because of this, the hinge cover keeps popping open.
Anyone know how I can get a replacement from Lenovo?
TIA.
