I am currently deciding between a Lenovo y530 YU, an HP dv5t with 4 GB memory, 250 GB hard drive, a NVIDIA GeForce 9600 graphics card, and an Intel Core 2 Duo Processor with 2.4 GHz, and the $1,300 Mac Book. Any thoughts on which I should get?

First, are you sure you want your username as your hotmail account? You're opening yourself up to a word of spam.

Second, rumors are that new Macbooks are possibly coming out in 3 weeks. I'd wait on buying one of those until October 14th, to see if they announce.

There's no way I can anwer your question because I don't know your use. If someone gave me one, I'd take the Macbook.

You can get best spec/price with HP. They occassionally have anywhere between $200-$500 (they just had $500 discount) coupons.

    I could've gotten HP dv5t P8600, 4GB RAM, 250GB, Blu-Ray, GeForce 9600 for about $1200 but I decided to go with Lenovo.

I went to see dv4t and dv5t at Circuit City last month and I think that it is too big for portability. dv4t should be okay, though bit at heavier side.

I probably would have gone with either dv4t or dv5t if it wasn't for SSD deal Lenovo had.

I looked at the dv5t's for a bit, they're just so cumbersome, but the price is right when you get their coupons. The d4t was more my size, but still THICK. I ended up with a Lenovo T400 that hasn't worked yet...but I feel it might be the best balance of size (not as big as the HPs)/top-end laptop performance.
I do prefer the way the monitors on the HPs looked, though. Or, I should say with the 5 minutes I spent with them. Like dlhuss, I was looking when HP had that $500 coupon and $1200 sounded about right for pretty much top-end everything. I also think the dv4t only came with 1280x800 resolution, though, and I really wanted a bit more.
I've heard rumors about new competitively priced Macbooks, so you might want to wait for that.
