I purchased a T61 on December 20th and used the Fatwallet 10% while they were running the Paypal $100 promotion. The Fatwallet credit appeared within a few days (I can't get the money until March), but the Paypal credit has yet to appear. It has now been longer than the one to two weeks Lenovo claimed.
Today I called them directly and the phone rep told me to check with my bank. I assured him I had been watching my checking account closely since the purchase and that nothing had cleared. I asked him various questions related to him confirming on his end if the $100 had been released. His only repeated answer was that "it should have been."
I called my bank and there was no hidden pending $100. Paypal has no active transactions and says that it is up to Lenovo to handle that promotion. Called Lenovo right back 20 minutes later and actually got the exact same guy. He said he would have to look into why I didn't get my rebate (claimed I was the first person ever to not receive the $100), and said he would call back in 24-48 hours.
1. To anyone who successfully got their $100 rebate: Did Lenovo credit it to Paypal or directly to your credit card/checking account? I assumed it was supposed to credit back to Paypal but Lenovo told me they direct credit it to your credit card or checking.
2. Is anyone else waiting on their $100?
Sheesh.

Fine print says it should take at least a month. It credits back to your Paypal account as well.
Don't worry, Paypal is pretty good with their promotions. You'll get it... eventually.
For the record, it took me 2 months to get $20 back for spending $50 on eBay on another one of Paypal's promotions so just be patient. -
I placed my order on Dec 19 and the laptop was shipped on Dec 26. It has been exactly two weeks so I contacted PayPal. (I tried Lenovo but the representative was clueless.)
Guess what? Paypal customer representative said that he/she could see the promotion was associated with my PayPal account (so they knew I intended to take advantage of the promotion). BUT EVENTUALLY I WAS NOT ELIGIBLE for the bonus. It means that I would never get the bonus. It seemed to me that they didn't want to honor the promotion if you used any coupon when you checked out at Lenovo.com.
That sucks.
Some ppl from fatwallet.com also reported the same issue -- they didn't honor the promotion if you used any coupon. However, the offer details just said "all Lenovo promotional conditions and terms apply", without revealing what the actual terms and conditions are.
For admlam, where did you see the fine print? -
Don't have it anymore, read the fine print when it was going on.
But if they don't want to honor it, then it's very unfortunate. -
BaldwinHillsTrojan Notebook Evangelist
They shirked responsibility for my Fat Wallet kick back as well citing something about not applying to special group discounts.
-
Waiting on mine, but the laptop just shipped.
I believe it said 2 weeks after the laptop ships for PP I don't remember reading anything about a month.
If they do not honor the Laptop is going back and I will dispute payment and cut my losses. Simple as that.
Also waiting on my e-coupns $100 back, but I'm not sure that one will ever come.... -
i am waiting for it too..got my laptop on DEC 26
-
I'm waiting for mine. Lenovo charged paypal on 1/3. I used the 13.33% coupon also. The coupon code and paypal promotion were both on FW promotion page so I thought this is a sure thing.
-
Well if they are not stackable then they should remove the button to check out with paypal and save $100 when you enter a coupon. Otherwise the laptop will simply go back and dispute will be initiated if it has to. Meantime I'm not going to worry about it but I would keep on them if you have not received your cash back and it is past the deadline.

Someone here reported that PayPal now said that the bonus would be posted by Jan 31st.

It usually takes 4-6 weeks
-
Here are the replies I got from PayPal. It doesn't look like they are going to honor it even after 4-6 weeks.

---2ND---I ASKED WHY I AM NOT ELIGIBLE-----------------------------
Dear XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX,
Thank you for contacting PayPal.
My name is Mary. I will be happy to assist you today.
I understand your concern about the $100 cash back offer.
Mr. XXXX the reason why you were not eligible is because Levono is not included on the list of merchants who participated in the promotion.
You may want to contact Levono for clarifications on this issue.
If you have any further questions, please feel free to contact us again.
Sincerely,
Mary

sounds like they are looking at the wrong promo....I better get mine or I'm sending it back cause thats false advertising if I have ever sceen it. I purchased through PP but used a credit card so when it comes down to it, PP is the one getting screwed if they don't send the check...
Now someone poested on Fatwallet that you had to order by 12/26? but I thought this got extended cause i'm sure I read the date and purchased on time. Hell the advertisement was still there, in fact im sure of it...I should have known PP would try to screw people, probably won't get the ecoupons $100 back either what a jip. If that is really the case i will never do buisness with Lenovo again. Lots of good info in the fatwallet poast incluidng how Lenovos quality is junk compared to older IBM's guess I will have to find out for myself when it arrives...
Keep us updated. -
Right! "Mary" (from the 2nd reply) thought that I was referring to the promotion during Thanksgiving (lilke get 20% back for merchants like Newegg, HP, Overstock and so on).
Also the PayPal promotion from Lenovo did get extended to the end of the year. Dec 26 was the deadline first. -
You have 21 days to send it back. So I wouldn't expect the rebate after just 14 days. Does it make sense?
-
double post
-
I ordered on Lenovo site 12/31 and Paypal promotion still showed on their website. I remembered it said expire or until 12/31.
FW did show on the website the wrong expire date for PP promotion . -
Yes, I mean "12/31/2007".
-
The link somebody posted about confirming January 31st seems promising, but this still is some wtf. -
I called Lenovo yesterday. I got a very quick answer (i.e. call PayPal). But I continued to ask questions. At the end the problem was clear. Lenovo customer service representative in India was not familiar with PayPal services. For him PayPal was some kind of a store, and it was very easy to answer the question (i.e. call the store - PayPal).
-
Check the e-mail replies from PayPal. They said "call Lenovo". It seems no one will ever get the bonus becuase Lenovo and PayPal both think the other should be responsible for this.
-
Thanks for all the info, if they are goiong to give me the run around I'm just going to return mine when it comes and get a Dell or Sony. Should be here today or tomarrow too, but now I am afraid to open it and I don't think it worth owning a product you are afraid to open. Very tempted to return anyways it since intel just shrunk to 45nm we should be seeing some really fast lower power laptops Q1 of 2008 anyways.
Going to call PayPal now.... -

As for some updated information in my case. I got an email back from PayPal telling me to call and handle the situation over the phone. I called and explained the whole scenario to the random support person I got. She was nice and put me on hold to check things out. She told me they were trying to get them out by the end of the month and that it usually takes 30 days. I asked her if she had anything in front of her confirming my rebate or if her information was general. General she said, nothing specific confirming my situation.
I received a mystery phone call today from a 416 number that left no message. I googled that area code to find it in Canada, called the number back. It was from some guy Ross at Lenovo. He said he was going to be in the office from 12:00 to 9:00 PM. I left him 3 messages. His voice mail said he would return all calls the day of. Never heard anything from him. To state things once again, he called me, then was unreachable all day and didn't return my call.
Lenovo promised me a return call on Thursday night within 24-48 hours. This Monday call qualifies, but guy dodging all calls and not returning messages is classic shoddy BS. Hopefully PayPal's words ring true and my $100 clears by the end of the month. -
I was told by Lenovo that the $100 bonus should be posted to PayPal's account next week. Hope this is true...

I contacted Lenovo and PayPal CS. The former was clueless and the latter said I should contact Lenovo.
So I filed a BBB complaint. A guy from Lenovo called me last week and said I should be entitled for the $100 rebate. He said the bonus would be posted this week, and if not, he would see what he can do for this issue.
I ordered on the first day of the PayPal promotion (Dec 19th) and the lapotp was shipped on Dec 26. Almost a month!
It can't be worse! -
sure it could be worse
I agree that paypal is often shady but rebates can take months to process (not that it's right)
Mail in rebates take forever and fatwallet is almost 4 months before cashback is available. -
Lenovo clearly mentioned the rebate should be posted approximately two weeks following the shipment. If that's what they said, they should follow it.
That's the rule they set but they failed to follow it! I don't care how other rebates work. I just want them to follow what they told us. -
The problem is that paypal likes to do whatever it wants and we pretty much have no recourse. It's unclear on whether or not some of us will even get this "paypal rebate" because we used additional coupon codes. Apparently this violates the "conditions" of the offer that weren't posted anywhere.
-
Just got the $100 rebate!
-
just got mine too..i didn't call lenovo or paypal though
-
I emailed Lenovo about a week ago, they asked for my order number, then replied with an answer stating the rebate would come before the end of the month. It just showed up today.
-
I got mine as well. I used a coupon code and fatwallet.
---
lenovo and Paypal just sent you money with PayPal.
lenovo and Paypal is a Verified buyer.
--- -
I haven't received mine yet. I ordered on December 31st and it was still listed on the lenovo order page. I hope it hadn't already expired in whichever timezone paypal goes by.
-
I ordered on the 1st day (Dec 19th) of the promotion and got the rebate today. So you should get yours soon...
-
OP here, got mine today, was credited as "From Lenovo and Paypal" or something like that. Ordered Dec 20, shipped Dec 23, rebate Jan 25, no form of recognizable knowledge about the promotion from either company in between.
Congrats to other receivers and good luck to those still waiting for it to clear. -
Did not get mine yet. Ordered on 12/31.
-
I just received my rebate, ordered on the 31st.
Lenovo, where is my $100 Paypal rebate?
