    Hello guys and galls!

I've been pondering on the purchace of Lenovo G530, and the thing that really seemed to tip the scale towards buying it was discovering that Lenovo was also offering a free Windows 7 upgrade like HP and Acer.

Lenovo's "Fulfillment Upgrade site" can be found here. On that page it simply speaks of Lenovo PCs that are purchaced with Vista.

I wanted to to take a sneak peak at the upgrade system and did so. I discovered that when you were requested to give your product type the only available options were the Idea series and the Think series. I know Lenovo doesn't parade it's Value line much, but still this makes me wonder whether the G530 qualifies for an upgrade, though reading the front page of the fulfillment site woud certainly suggest so. Would any of you have information on the Value line's eligibility for the upgrade program?

(On the previous page of the upgrade system it also lists several languages as eligible but on the next page where you are requested to fill out the OS language only most common 13 languages are available.)

I'd really like to get a Lenovo, but Idea- and ThinkPads are beyond my financial resources and computing needs and I would therefore settle for the G530.

    Cheers

As far as I know, all laptops of participating OEMs that have Windows Vista Home Premium or higher installed are eligible for a free upgrade to the same edition of Windows 7, including the Value line of Lenovo.

I would still, however, call Sales and get a confirmation from a rep (be sure to take the name of the rep, in case complications arise later on) that this is indeed the case with the G530.

The "free" upgrade that you speak of is not entirely as stated. You still have to pay for shipping, which is ~$30. I call BS - my T400 was shipping free...
