I have been studying the laptop market for a while now, and without a hindsight of doubt Lenovo offers what I am searching for. Kaby Lake and Pascal are both a big evolution from last generation's chip.

Now I am wondering if anyone has more information on the T460/560 refresh?

When kaby lake and Pascal are both powering these laptops, it would be a dream come true when it comes to the longevity of such a laptop.

    Thanks for your time

T470 and T570 have already been announced. They are not a refresh of the T460 and T560, both have a new chassis and slightly changed up design.

Pascal is not ready yet for lower-end laptops it seems, there is no GeForce 1040 yet. Because of this, T470 and T570 both havethe GeForce 940MX optional. GTX chips like the 1050 are more meant for gaming notebooks and have a TDP budget that is too high.

It's just inexplicable why the T470p has no TB3 :/ Asked Lenovo for an explanation (for an article) and they wouldn't comment.

Interesting. Since the latest E470 is free of PWM, do you know if the T470/T570 have PWM free display options?

The last big evolution was Sandy Bridge. Any one who's privy to upcoming release information is unlikely to share it here.

If it works out anything like the T460/T560... they had GeForce 940m as optional GPUs as well but they were never made available, at least not in the US. Although the T560 with a 940m GPU did find its way as the 50p the slim alternative to the p50.

Something to else to consider the 940mx has a passmark benchmark of 1234... my i7-6600u t560 with 520 graphics benchmarks at 1033 with DDR3 memory. Its highly likely that the intel 620 integrated graphics combined with the DDR4 memory in the t470/t570 will yield benchmarks pretty dang close to the 940mx. So the nvidia is only important if you use software that works well with it... like iRay rendering which needs an nvidia GPU for acceleration. Games will likely be about the same on the 940mx as the 620 intel though.

You are massively overestimating the HD 620. Its pretty slow in reality, much slower than the 940MX with GDDR5. I know, because I have tested the HD 620 in multiple Notebooks already. As well as the 940MX. The 940MX is in a completely different league, even Iris GPUs are slower.

Benchmarks do not reflect real world usage. Intel optimizes the iGPUs for benchmarks, but in real world usage, they are not as fast.

Thats actually good to know... doing a bit more digging 3dmark gives better scores to 940mx then 520/620 on graphics and is likely a better workout of 3d performance than passmark which seems to be more than a bit dated in what its checking. I like my 560 i7/16gb fine except no gpu and non-backlit keyboard... and want nvidia for rendering work.
