From a potential buyer's perspective, I think it is ridiculous that Lenovo is no longer offering the IPS panels. Because Lenovo's quality has been heading south the past year, this is a make or break option between choosing Lenovo and a competitior. Please reply in this thread if you want Lenovo to bring back the IPS panels.

According to Lenovo, they can't find a reliable source for them. What are they supposed to do? If you weren't aware of it, the FlexView is available on Lenovo's site right now, just not with Santa Rosa. If Lenovo's quality is heading south, why do you want one?

I second the idea, but technically shouldn't we be asking them to KEEP the screens? Last time I looked they are still available on the 15" T60s. But you are absolutely right -- unless you are a fan of the glossy ultrabrights (not good IMHO for serious business work), there is no notebook screen under 17" than can compete with the IPS. Since IBM/Lenovo has this market cornered (and since screens are a deal maker or breaker for many users) it stands to reason that they should either keep this technology or replace it with a superior alternative rather than simply jumping on the widescreen bandwagon. Just my two thoughts

There are two features I prefer on Thinkpad notebooks over all others: the TrackPoint and keyboard tactile response. But the new design decisions such as lopsided screen position, protruding 6-cell battery, and lackluster LCD panel are some serious deterrents.
Levono, please bring back the IPS screens!
