What is the lightest quad core, 4 dimm, over 1080p resolution laptop? I own a w520 w530 and w540, w520 is still my fav but a bit heavy for my needs. Is there something lighter with a higher resolution. Is there a screen I can put in the w520 w530 for higher resolution? I prefer lenovo, or latitude/precision but I'm pretty agnostic now since the thinkpads are so different now so almost any brand is ok with me.
Thanks

I think the Precision M4800 may be about it. MSI and Clevo may have a 15" unit with 4 DIMMS but in most cases for thin and lights sockets are the first to be sacrifices ( RAM, CPU and GPU ) MSI and Clevo may have a model or two in their gaming lineups but I am not familiar with their models.
the W520 and W530 will not take a high res screen as they use LVDS to drive the monitor and your high res screens use a display port variant now.
what are you needing the resolution for that requires it, as I don't notice a big difference with the 2 I own compared to my army of 1080 screens. -
I do a lot of work with virtual machines and they can always use more memory, some of it is nested vm inside a vm. I also ipmi or remote into a lot a machines. Some I rdp to a management server then have to rdp or console to multiple servers inside of it. The way things are segregated each vm needs to vpn to different places. I also like to keep a program similar to IP monitor and there are so many devices the more resolution the better I can see everything.
Now I don't care about the looks of it but does any one make a cable that routes the external displayport to edp connector on the high resolution screens
Lastly I have all those options at my desk but my back can't take 12+ hours sitting on a chair. I like to spend 1/2 my time on my specially made recliner for work with a laptop.

not that I know of, and you would need the rest of the driver circuit as well since your not using embedded DP off the motherboard with the backlight system etc.
Lightest laptop quad core with 4 dimm slots, qhd resolution, no optical drive is fine.
