    Where to buy?

The general suggestion is to go to Ebay but I am unable to discern which offers are "like new" from the all used ones. I wouldn't want to pay in the range of $100 for this.

Actually, is there a counterfeit market for this? Eg. shipping from China/Hong Kong can be trusted?

Does buying from a "Top Rated Seller" makes any difference? Buying from stores (eg. "Buy Now" items) vs. individuals (you can bid).

Post a WTB (want to buy) ad at TPF here:

    forum.thinkpads.com • Marketplace - Forum Members only

There are folks over there who sell new parts, so I expect that someone would come to the rescue pretty quick. Not to mention that they are *way* more trustworthy than their feebay counterparts.

    Happy shopping.

Thank you. And your view on how that forum is operated? They http://forum.notebookreview.com/lenovo/730459-your-opinion-official-lenovo-forums.html verify you - you have to enter your city and all.

I dunno but are ThinkPads such a strange animals that both of their dedicated forums
    - at Lenovo.com
    - at ThinkPads.com
are strange in one way or another.

So, not like your regular friendly and welcoming forum like this one.

My understanding is that the above is an anti-spamming measure.
Well, TPF is pretty much the oldest (not in this guise) forum of its kind on the web. Having been there for over six years now I guess I'm used to its quirks - what a newcomer may deem as "strange" - but it is a very warm and welcoming place, at least in my opinion.

How can I locate the part numbers for the various keyboard layouts but all for the X60/X61 family on the Lenovo site?

When I entered my machine's serial number it only gave me the layout was installed on the machine.

    I like choice.

If you're looking for a group of ThinkPad owners who posses a ton of knowledge and are more than willing to help when you're stuck, TPF is it. The amount of information available there, even for machines long since out of production, is quite impressive.
