    Hi guys,

I've just got a T61 w/ Quadro 140M and 4GB memory, and I have Vista 32bit installed. I expect the system to show about 3.5G memory but what I got is 3GB only. Since I do much heavy multi-tasking with this one and I expect to make as much as possible out of the memory I installed, (although using up to 4GB is not possible). I suspect it's mainly because the TurboCache takes too much memory. So anyone has got solution of disabling or limiting TurboCache on this machine? Thanks.

Vista 32bt can only allocate 3GB memory. Try to upgrade to Vista 64bit.

I'm afraid this is not true. I've been using Vista 32bit on a E6600/4GB/7800GTX(256MB) system for some time, and the system shows 3.5GB ram. It definitely cannot use up to 4GB, but I think using up to 3.5GB won't be totally impossible with my T61.

Of coz upgrading to Vista 64 will solve this problem, but with certain program compatibility problems, this might not be an adequate option for me :)

On my T61p and X61t with Vista32 (Ultimate and Business) I see just over 3GB. 3061MB on the X61t that I am using presently. It's more than just Vista, some of it has to do with the chipset in the machine, reserved memory area placements, etc.

The exact amount that a 32 bit OS can handle seems to be "3.2GB". What I wanted to say is that if you want to see the full 4GB, a 64 bit OS is the best way to solve it.
