I deleted my partition but was able to backup the drivers. But wasn't able to make a recovery disk. How much would it cost to request the discs?

That is definitely not a solution to what he asked and isn't meant to be used on machines that come preintalled with windows.

Only use those isos if you backup your windows activation using ABR first. If you try to use the windows code on the sticker on our laptop when installing from that ISO, it will not work.

That is not a backup disc. It's a windows installation disc.

Again, DO NOT format your laptop using the iso from that link unless you've backed up your windows activation.

You should be careful giving advice that would make anyone lose their activation and be forced to spend $100 on an OEM windows disc.

Im no expert, but the amount of completely incorrect and terrible advice on this forum never ceases to amaze me.

Those images can easily be activated with the OEM key just fine as that's what I do on all of my machines.

Start here - Blowing away bloatware: a guide to reinstalling Windows on a new PC | Ars Technica - It's a myth that for Win 7 you can't use an OEM key with a Retail iso/cd. All you need is the iso/cd of the same version of Win7 that you have a key for, ie. Home Premium. You couldn't do that in XP/Vista but Win7 has no problem with it.

Well, if that's the case, I stand corrected. Definitely not what I had been led to believe. Then again, that article is very recent. I apologize :)

Wish I had just done that instead of using ABR. Not a big deal, but still annoying the amount of paranoia surrounding the whole issue.

That just made doing a clean install so much easier.
