    how about a REAL REAL INDepth Article on installing Gentoo on a IBM THinkpad R40 or R50... Wifi, AUdio, Win32codecs(video), optimizing kernel, cflags, everything... WHat you guys think?

    Its really not that bad. Search the gentoo forums for T42 as it is a really popular model. There are some really nice HOWTOs for it.

    You can easily use the howtos for your R40.

    Also check out the gentoo wiki and thinkwiki.org

    ya I know ... I dont want poor noobs 2 search. :) and most of the r40 wikis and howtos built around 2002-2004... OLD

    Well find someone who uses an R40 and if they run gentoo on it. Are you having issues?

    feel free to ask me questions. I run gentoo on my IBM T20 and have installed on numerous TPs

    na... I have gentoo without a prob... but it was a pain. I didn't want it to happen to poor people who are new to it
