I received my x220 a few days ago and I love it but I am having a few issues. If you are having problems list them here. With my x220 I did a clean install of Windows 7 Pro 64Bit and used all provided software on Lenovo's website.

    Issues I am having:

    1) Once the computer is powered up and running in windows I cannot shut it down, put it in sleep or hibernate by pressing the power button. The power button is basically useless. I have checked all settings and changed each one but it just does nothing. I know it works because it turns the unit on. This is not a huge deal because I have it configured so I can press ALT + F4 and hibernate like that. Could this be a problem some people will have if they installed Windows 7 themselves?

    2) Sound through the attached speakers is extremely low and very tinny. This is even with volume at its highest level. I have read some others are having this problem as well. Hopefully it is a driver issue that Lenovo will address.

    3) The integrated SD Card reader DOES NOT work. I have installed the drivers from Lenovo but any SD card I insert takes a few minutes to register, then it looks as if the data on the SD card is corrupt. This has happened with numerous SD cards. Probably a driver issue.

So these problems didn't exist before you did a clean install?

I don't know. 10 minutes after I unboxed, I installed a Samsung 64GB 470 series SSD and installed Windows on there.

Some of these could be due to a misconfiguration system. Let's not jump to conclusions. You are commenting after a clean install after all.

So can you put back the supplied HDD and test using that?

How common is the screen edge light bleed? On a black screen from around 11 to 15, I can see it, not just at the bottom but also going up the sides in places. It does distract a bit.

Does anyone not have this bleed or is it normal on all machines?

#2 Start>Control panel>Hardware and Sounds>Smart Audio>Click on the Equalizer icon at bottom>Raise all the bars and the sound will increase a whole lot

That was my only issue as well. Drove me nuts at first and got the info to fix it yesterday. Now I'm happy :D

Too late.. I put it in the laptop that was replaced by the x220. Its already formatted.

As for the sound issue, that is now fixed with the EQ settings. Thanks!

It might increase perceived volume a bit but that will be at expense of increased distortion, so it's a somewhat desperate measure, imo. Still, have raised most of the bars myself (not the treble though) because it can barely be heard otherwise. It's a shame because the screen lends itself superbly to films/ you tube etc and using headphones all the time isn't always convenient.

I wonder if they had used a realtek chip whether it would have been quite that soft.

Several members here have it. Some reported not having it but I'm sure they're just not familiar with bleed and assume it will be visible all the time and if at first glance they don't see it, they don't have it.

I've seen about 7-10 reports of bleed from X220 here and I have it as well, that's a sizable number considering this is only a forum and whatnot so I'd say it's pretty common

Yeah I see your point Crafter, although mine seems to go up the sides and not just along the bottom.

What's the matter with the fan? Some people say it's always on. Isn't that annoying?!

you should at least use the factory default hdd to create a set of windows 7 recovery disc before formatting it..

    lol

I hope that constantly running fans and high pitched fan noise gets ironed out in coming ThinkPad revisions, because its big problem for many, couldnt stand it on mine before TPFC.

SD card issue is fixed. Strangely enough after I installed Lenovo "Update and Drivers" software it worked. What is odd is that nothing was updated using that software.

Okay I am an idiot... I didn't know you had to hold down the power button for a half a second for it to shutdown or hibernate. So that leaves me with the sound as the only issue. Even though there is a quick fix, I believe Lenovo needs to look into that problem.
