So I opened up my spanking new T61, booted up into Vista, and burned off recovery media. 3 DVD-Rs:
1 "Start Recovery Disc"
1 "Product Recovery Disc 1"
1 "Product Recovery Disc 2"
Then I shut everything down, upgraded the RAM and the hard drive, and booted up with the "Start Recovery Disc".
Went through a couple of dialogs, and then got the prompt "If you have an Operating System Recovery Disc, insert it and click "Yes"." I put in "Product Recovery Disc 1" and clicked Yes... and I got an error, saying "This disc is incorrect."
It wouldn't recognize any of the 3 DVDs I had just burned, so finally I said "No" when prompted for the Operating System Recovery Disc, while having "Product Recovery Disc 1" in the drive.
The recovery app X'ed out "Operating System Recovery Disc" and moved on to "Applications and Drivers Recovery Disc", which it's working on right now.
Is this normal? It really seems like a jacked up recovery. I've tried it a couple times, reboots etc., with the same result.
Do I basically have to call Lenovo to get recovery discs from them now?

Hmm... well, it looks like I'm booting into Vista now on the new hard drive, so never mind... for now. I guess their rescue and recovery app designer needed a few more cups of coffee.

I'm going through this exact process right now. I was thrown by the need to essentially say no to having OS discs.... The app seems to like my product recovery CDs now so I'll cross my fingers until I get through all the CDs.
Little help, please! (recovery media)
